What is White Ribbon Day?
Why do we need it?
Statement from ISPEP CEO, Alex Charge
We encourage leadership, organisations and individuals to build cultures of inclusion, to speak up ... This is particularly important in our sector, where so many patient engagement professionals are women.
As CEO of the International Society for Patient Engagement Professions (ISPEP), I am proud that we stand behind White Ribbon Day on 25 November. The campaign encourages people to "Speak up" and challenges the idea that everyday sexism is harmless.
The White Ribbon campaign reminds us that culture, behaviour and respect matter in all settings. In healthcare and patient engagement, we work in environments where trust, safety, diversity and inclusion are essential to our industry’s success.
We encourage leadership, organisations and individuals to build cultures of inclusion, to speak up when behaviour is out of step with these values, and to challenge behaviour that undermines equality, trust or inclusion.
This is particularly important in our sector, where so many patient engagement professionals are women. Supporting White Ribbon Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the wider impact to women and reinforce our commitment to challenge harmful behaviours.
We welcome our members, sponsors and industry colleagues to join us. Together, we can help create environments where people feel valued, heard and secure, and we commit ourselves to that goal. We are proud to raise the flag in support of White Ribbon Day and its wider message that respect is fundamental.
