"I aim to integrate global learnings from communities like ISPEP and leverage the ISPEP Hub to gather strategic direction and transform the patient engagement landscape in India"
"One of the biggest gaps in my region is the limited capacity for patient advocacy, coupled with disparities in patient education, access to quality care, and inclusive patient engagement … as an ISPEP Ambassador for APAC, I hope to address these gaps"

Shilpa Shenoy

Shilpa is the VP of Patient Care and Engagement at 4baseCare and ISPEP's APAC Ambassador, working across patient advocacy, health literacy, and inclusive engagement to bring patient voices into the center of healthcare decisions.

More than 15 years ago, my career in healthcare began with a simple yet transformative experience: picking up the phone each day and speaking directly with patients. Those conversations taught me that beyond clinical care and treatment protocols, patients often need someone who can listen, empathize, and support them emotionally as they navigate some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

That early experience revealed something far greater than a job; it gave me a sense of purpose. Since then, my professional journey has been driven by a commitment to improving patient experiences and ensuring that the patient voice remains central to healthcare decision-making.

Over the past 15+ years, I have built expertise across healthcare services, patient engagement, and the pharmaceutical industry, working in roles that have deepened my understanding of patient journeys, access challenges, advocacy needs, and the importance of embedding patient perspectives into strategy and operations. My experience spans the design and implementation of patient support programs, healthcare professional engagement strategies, consulting, and strategic planning.

Throughout my career, I have worked with leading organizations including Indegene, Viatris (formerly Mylan), Portea, BioQuest, and DKI Health. I have also partnered with global pharmaceutical and healthcare companies such as Novartis, AstraZeneca, Takeda, Sanofi, Abbott, Pfizer, Genentech, bioMérieux, and Bristol Myers Squibb to develop patient-centric solutions that improve access, engagement, and outcomes.

I am also actively involved in advancing patient-centered healthcare globally through my affiliations with the International Society for Patient Engagement Professionals (ISPEP), where I serve as an APAC Ambassador, and the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), contributing to their Patient Centricity and Affinity Group.

My passion lies in bridging the gap between healthcare systems, industry, providers, patients, and caregivers, ensuring that every strategy, service, and solution is informed by the voices and experiences of those who matter most.

In my current role as Vice President of Patient Engagement and Care at 4baseCare, I aim to integrate global learnings from communities like ISPEP and leverage the ISPEP Hub to gather strategic direction and transform the patient engagement landscape in India.

One of the biggest gaps in my region is the limited capacity for patient advocacy, coupled with disparities in patient education, access to quality care, and inclusive patient engagement. Many patients and caregivers still lack the knowledge, support, and opportunities to actively participate in healthcare decisions, while diverse and underserved communities remain underrepresented. As an ISPEP Ambassador for APAC, I hope to address these gaps by strengthening patient advocacy, promoting education and health literacy, advancing equitable access to care and innovation, and fostering meaningful, inclusive partnerships that ensure every patient voice is heard and valued.
